Free Hand Embroidery

This terrible* night picture represents a new era in my life. Last night I went out. On my own. This is momentous. Only recently has my daughter accepted my husband putting her to bed. This is in part due to the fact that up until this point she has been breast fed to sleep. Although she is still having milk she is at last thinking that this is not a necessity at bed time and any time she wakes up.

Oh the liberation!

To mark this change I have been trying not to get carried away and book a million nocturnal excursions! However, I did book one indulgence. I went to a free hand embroidery class. The travel to it alone, on a train then a lovely walk through central London, in twilight (I had forgotten this existed!), was worth it. I watched buildings and people and enjoyed the experience of being alone.

The course was good, I felt I learnt a lot and it wasn't rushed. I had adult conversation and though only of my own enjoyment! I have bought bits a pieces home to finish and feel inspired to try my own designs. No napkin is safe!

What craft do you fancy trying next?

* I apologise, it really is terrible but so special to me!

  2. I remember that feeling ... slight fear and trepidation as you've left them behind, but immense joy at having time all to your self. Loving the stitched birds x

    1. I taught myself last year but quite honestly could do with a lot more help!

  6. The birdie is delightful, but it wouldn't have mattered if it was a squishy squiggle of messiness after that description of freedom. I recently went to my first knitting night and had to stop myself from leaping about the whole time at how excited I was to be out of the house! At night! On my own! Yay for that x
