If I tell you that this is currently the best view of my home, inside or out, well, you can see we have work to do.
Early last year, for reasons to numerous and complicated to explain we had had two houses fall through and had three weeks left in which to find a house and have an offer accepted. We knew we could not afford a 'dream' home, or even a home we would like to spend the whole of our child rearing years in but we needed somewhere bigger, still local and very, very cheap. This house fitted the criteria. It needed so much work that we did not put in an offer until we had had our friend and builder take a look. He agreed it was a lot of work but that it could be done. In desperation we offered the asking price as we could not have another house fall through as this would mean staying in our flat for at least another two years. Our offer was accepted and in August we moved in.
We have barely unpacked a box. We have been almost in stasis whilst we wait to get the money together and the plans sorted for the 'big make over'. Frankly, any change will be positive, I joke that I am going to get a skip and everything is going in it bar the energy saving light bulbs. I know everyone has their own taste, but somehow, nobody even attempted to use theirs here. It is a little on the depressing side to live somewhere that feels nothing like a home but we try to keep our minds on the long game.
We are currently waiting the final architects plans for a two storey side extension that will house a Kitchen/Dining Room downstairs and a Master Bedroom and Family bathroom upstairs. We will then submit for planning permission and hope (really hope) we can start work by the end of June. Wish us luck!
