The Horniman Museum

"Those who use their eyes obtain the most entertainment and knowledge. Those who look but do not see go away no wiser than when they came." -  Fredrick Horniman

Mr Horniman was a pretty wise man, as illustrated by the statement above. I thoroughly recommend a visit to this treasure of a place. We have been a couple of times and intend to make regular trips. Our eldest loved the family story time that was on this last visit. They not only have a fantastic collection (and a great history) they go out of their way to make it accessible. The museum caters for children, they encourage touching and regularly change their exhibits. There is an aquarium that you pay a small fee to see but the rest is free. It has outside space with a great view as well as a bandstand, musical instruments and animals. Even the cafe is good. What more could you want from a day out?! Seriously, go now!

  3. Free museums - love them. Especially when they are as child friendly as this place obviously is. It looks amazing. Love the picture of the jellyfish!

  4. Hi Abigail, thanks for visiting my blog. It's great that you're taking your children to museums while they're still so little. I did the same with my daughter and she loves visiting them now (and art galleries, theatre, historic houses..). The jelly fish picture is amazing! x
